A very exciting press release has just been published about our successes in Barnet:
Barnet Council’s Construction Supply Chain Programme has helped local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) secure £16.9 million in contracts since 2022, strengthening the borough’s local economy and supporting jobs and skills.
Since launching, the programme has supported 145 Barnet-based construction SMEs, with 28 businesses successfully winning 47 contracts with developers operating in the borough, as well as from the council and Barnet Homes.
The initiative connects local suppliers with major regeneration and development projects taking place across Barnet, helping ensure investment in new homes and infrastructure benefits local businesses and communities. Networking event for Barnet’s Construction Supply Chain
Barnet Construction Supply Chain Project hosted a Networking event for local SMEs on the programme on 14 th January at the Arts Depot. Some 30 people attended covering a wide variety of construction trades. Among the guests were Simon Strickfuss and Alex Henton of Chase New Homes which is developing 250 new homes at Claremont Road in Cricklewood.
David McAlpine of MTW Consultants presented them with the MTW 2025/26 Barnet Local Supplier Engagement Award. It goes to the buyer that has made the most effort to engage with and appoint local suppliers.
Not only have Chase New Homes genuinely gone out of their way to get to know local suppliers and get them on board, but they have already met their local procurement target of 10% target of build cost and are on track to double
this to 20% in the next couple of months.
Through our Construction Supply Chain Programme, we’ve supported 130 local SMEs, leading to 44 businesses securing contracts worth £12.95m in tenders since 2022. With major regeneration taking place across the borough, we’re looking
forward to supporting even more local construction businesses to access and win new tender opportunities.
Next event: our next event is a Meet the Buyer event on 20 th March. More details can be found on our EVENTS page.
